Tell us more about you
I am one of the surveyors who operates out of the Inverness branch. My main areas are Inverness and most of the Highlands including, Elgin, Aviemore, Dingwall, Tain, Fort Augustus, Fort William, Newtonmore and many other towns in the Highland. On the odd occasion in order to cover for holidays or sickness, I have been known to venture as far south as Stonehaven and Arbroath taking in Laurencekirk, Brechin, Montrose, Forfar etc etc. Luckily I quite enjoy driving!
What was your first job?
My First job was as an apprentice joiner for which I spent the first few months sweeping floors and making the joiners cups of tea.
What has been the biggest challenge of your career?
The biggest challenge of my career so far has probably been changing companies after working at the same firm for 13 years. So far so good, though.
When it comes to property, what is the next big thing?
Probably something to do with energy saving.
What in your opinion is the one thing above all that sells a house?
The one thing that would sell it to me is a huge Jacuzzi bath so I can recover after football but unfortunately, the good lady won’t let me have one.
What do you think is the next best thing in the preservation/property market?
At the moment this appears to be the treatment of Japanese Knotweed.
What advice would you offer to those looking to be Specialist Surveyor?
Work hard and ask what people really want.
If money was no object where would you live?
Australia would probably be my first choice but anywhere with a better climate than the north of Scotland.
Which celebrity would you most like to work with?
Being a big football fan and Manchester United supporter the person I would love to work with would have to be Eric Cantona as he was my childhood hero.
What are your responsibilities?
My main responsibilities are surveying the jobs to the highest standard and managing contracts through from start to finish.
What are your past times and interests?
My interests out with work are mainly football as I play and coach an amateur level team. I also have a 6-month-old springer spaniel who seems to take up most my spare time. I should add my girlfriend in here just in case she has a look at my profile.
