Q1: HOW QUICKLY DOES DRY ROT SPREAD?
Unfortunately the five key components to start a dry rot infestation are present in the majority of houses in the UK – dry rot spores, suitable temperature, food source, water and oxygen. However, it really depends on how favourable these conditions are for dry rot to grow and spread. The more favourable the quicker dry rot can spread.
Q2: WHAT DRY ROT INSURANCE DO YOU OFFER?

Q3: IS DRY ROT A MUSHROOM?
No, dry rot is not a mushroom, however, its appearance during the Fruiting Body stage of its lifecycle can resemble the look of a mushroom. Dry rot is fungal decay that causes damage to the timber of a property that can weaken the structure of a building.
Q4: IS DRY ROT COVERED BY INSURANCE?
Unfortunately, there is not a clear cut answer on this. Different insurance policies cover different aspects of repair to a property. However, most insurers see dry rot as a wear and tear issue, therefore not covered by their standard building insurance policies. However, we would advise you to check with your insurance provider.
Q5: IS DRY ROT BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH?
Dry rot spores on their own are not a health risk. However, it does indicate an underlying damp problem or excessive moisture within the property which can potentially be bad for your health.
