Rising Damp Treatment

When a building is constructed, a damp proof course is installed in the walls to prevent any rising damp, however when this course does not exist or becomes damaged the most common result is rising damp. It is therefore important to choose a supplier familiar with rising damp problems who is qualified as a rising damp specialist.  Materials such as stone and brick are naturally porous and will soak up moisture like a sponge, e.g. in most rising damp treatments.  As long as a damp proof course is intact, it will prevent the walls of a property suffering from rising damp.  If not, the walls will draw moisture up and this condition is known as rising damp.  The condition displays as damp staining normally on the 1st metre of a wall.  A rising damp solution is to treat the effected area with a retrofit chemical osmotic solution or physical damp proof membrane and then replace any contaminated plasterwork.  If this plasterwork is not properly removed and replaced with specialist salt retardant plaster, salts, which are present in the plaster, may continue to absorb moisture from the air and continue, even after the installation of a new retrofit damp proof course, to give the appearance of dampness.

Rising Damp treatment involves identification of the problem and eradication through chemical spray and other rising damp treatments carried out be the team at Wise Property Care.
